Drama has hit the GT1 class in the penultimate hour of the race.  The #64 Corvette of Oliver, Olivier and Jan took over the class lead earlier but the Astons were catching.  The excessive temperatures have played a part in this battle and it was the turn of the Aston Martins to hit problems.  First the #58 car had a broken front splitter and then suffered a mechanical failure of some type out on the circuit.  Then the #59 Aston suffered overheating problems, car and drivers!  David Brabham was forced to make an early stop for a driver change and then, despite a stop to try and solve the problem, Darren Turner had to bring the car in to the pits for major attention.

With an hour to go, this has left the #64 Compuware Corvette C6.R in the class lead and fifth overall.  The sister #63 car is second, 1 lap behind, and the stationery #59 Aston a further 6 laps back.
