The 10th American Le Mans Series gets underway on Sunday 15th March with the 56th running of the 12 Hours of Sebring. Oliver will be again be sharing the No.4 Compuware Corvette C6.R with Olivier Beretta, the pair seeking their fourth consecutive ALMS GT1 driver's championship. They will be joined for the endurance events, including this weekend's race at Sebring and at Le Mans, by Max Papis. The driving crew of the No.3 Corvette is unchanged, Jan Magnussen and Johnny O'Connell. They will again be joined at the endurance events by Ron Fellows. This year the Corvette Racing team are supporting the drive towards green technology by using E85 Ethanol. All cars in the ALMS will run on diesel, E10 or E85 ethanol as the series promotes alternative fuels. The schedule this week is a busy one. The first track action comes with morning and afternoon test sessions on both Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday sees the first official practice sessions. Qualifying for the GT1 class is on Thursday between 3.05pm and 3.30pm local time with night practice to follow. Friday is a day without track action and the race itself starts at 10.05 am on Saturday. This year the two Corvette C6.Rs have some competition in GT1 in the form of the 008 Bell Motorsports Aston Martin DBR9 driven by Terry Borcheller and Chapman Ducote. At Sebring the pair will be joined by Antonio Garcia. Oliver will be looking to add to his 4 Sebring class wins and get the 2008 season off to a winning start! |
