The battle for GT1 honours has intensified through the night with the leading #58 Aston Martin and the second placed #64 Corvette C6.R within a lap of each other.  For the last 8 hours the cars have been sharing lap times as both have benefited from the relief of the cooler night time temperatures.

The #63 Corvette is also less than a lap behind with the #59 Aston Martin in fourth after a series of stop/go penalties.

Jan Magnussen came in after his night time stint in 64, "So far I'm very happy with how everything is going," he confirmed. "Obviously we didn't expect the two punctures we had in the beginning that put us behind the game, but we've caught up now."

Oliver also praised the car, "Our car's balance is really good and the C6.R is getting stronger as the race goes on. I'm very happy with our position at the moment but the test will come when the sun comes up and the heat returns."

The weather forecast is for even higher temperatures than yesterday, 32 degrees or more!  It is certainly going to be hot both on and off the track!!
