Squally Thursday makes for tricky qually for Olly

Olly and his Finnish Mad Croc Racing team mate, Pertti Kuismanen, will be starting from 16th place on the grid for this afternoon’s Qualifying race after a gamble on set up failed to pay off.

With every session yesterday having been held in soaking wet conditions, Olly’s SRT team were faced with a difficult choice, as he explains.

“None of us had any dry running before going into qualifying today so we basically went in two completely separate directions with both the Mad Croc Racing Corvettes in terms of set up.  It was a big gamble and, while it paid off for Xavier and Jos’s car (#11 Corvette), it didn’t work out for us.  They’ve got a great pole position for the team at their home race, so many congratulations to them.

“We’re now working hard to adjust the set up in time for the race.  We got into the second part of qualifying and Pertti knows the Spa track very well from Belgian touring cars so I’m hoping we’ll have a good showing this afternoon.”

The Qualifying Race takes place at 1500 hours (CET), and tomorrow’s second one-hour event is at 1205 hrs.
