After the Spa 24 Hours two weeks ago, Oliver and Olivier return to the American Le Mans Series this weekend at a famous road course that reminds them of the Belgian circuit, both having long straights and winding their way through some fabulous countryside.. The 4.048 mile, 14 turn circuit at Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin is also the longest visited by the ALMS.
"This is one of my favourite events," Oliver confirmed. "It's held on one of the great circuits, a real driver's circuit. It's a 4 hour race this year so we will have plenty of time out there - it will be long and tough. You need to be brave here, especially in the carousel and kink. The key is carrying the speed through the corners. Not only are we going to be racing hard against our teammates, we're going to be challenging ourselves on every lap."
The 'Ollies' (Gavin & Beretta) are well ahead in the 2007 GT1 Driver's Championship and are looking to further extend that lead here. For the first time in the ALMS since Sebring the pair have another rival in the GT1 class as well as their Corvette teammates. Doran Racing have entered a Maserati MC12 for owner Fredy Leinhard and veteran Didier Theys.
The race takes place on Saturday, 11th August starting at 4.00 pm local time (10.00 pm UK time) and can be seen in the UK on Motors TV tape delayed on Monday 13th at 9.00 pm.
