The American Le Mans Series visits a new venue this weekend at Miller Motorsports Park, Salt Lake City for the Utah Grand Prix. The track is a long one at 4.5 miles and consists of a long straight with a very twisty (23 corner) infield. It always takes a little time to learn a new circuit but it is the same for everyone! Corvette Racing believes they are ahead of the game a little, using computer simulation to prepare a first race car set up.
The Corvette C6.R has been further penalised versus the Aston Martins for this race onwards with a lower fuel capacity and a smaller restrictor. After the close race at Lime Rock we will have to wait and see what effect these further restrictions will have.
"Lime Rock was a bit of a disaster for us in the No.4 car," Oliver confirmed, "but the winning streak had to come to an end sometime. Olivier and I are keen to regain the initiative and perhaps start another winning streak at Salt Lake City but it will be tough against the Astons with our additional handicaps. I can assure everyone that the team will be working hard for our overall goal of a Corvette 1-2!"
The Utah Grand Prix starts at 6.00 pm local time on Saturday (Sunday 1.00 am in the UK) and will run for the usual 2 hours 45 minutes. It will be shown on Motors TV in the UK delayed at 6.30 pm on Sunday.
