Olly just misses out on VIR victory

GM factory driver Olly Gavin of Northamptonshire, England and his Banner Racing team mate Gunther Schaldach of Colorado, took a second consecutive podium finish in the #07 The Cool TV Camaro GT.R at Virginia International Raceway yesterday, solidifying second place in the GT points standings for the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series. Olly opens Grand Am points account

GM factory driver Olly Gavin and his Banner Racing team mate Gunther Schaldach drove a faultless race at Barber Motorsports Park today to take the #07 The Cool TV Camaro GT.R  to second place in the GT class in round two of the 2011 Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series.  The Anglo-American duo took the checkered flag 2.5 seconds behind Bill Auberlen’s Turner Motorsport BMW, and both Gavin and Auberlen finished one lap ahead of the next six runners. Star Turn By Olly At Homestead

Briton Oliver Gavin demonstrated excellent pace and superb racing skills at the Grand Prix of Miami at the Homestead Miami Speedway today on his way to an eighth place finish, one lap down to the leaders of the GT class in the 2011 GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series.  Gavin ran as high as second during his stint in the extremely competitive GT category before handing the wheel to his Canadian team mate, Gunther Schaldach, for the final fifty minutes of the race. Daytona defeats Banner’s transmission despite plucky efforts

Olly’s much hoped for success at the Rolex 24 at Daytona will have to wait for another 12 months, despite the concerted efforts of every driver and team member within the Leighton Reese Performance Group team. The No. 07 Banner Racing THECOOLTV/KWL Trucking/ EMC Camaro GT.R retired from the race with a little less than seven hours remaining due to transmission failure. Read more →

Olly to race in Grand-Am with Banner Racing

Oliver is aiming for maximum air miles in 2011 after an additional racing programme in North America was today announced.

As well as looking forward to driving with the GM’s Corvette Racing team in the 2011 ALMS, the endurance specialist will be lining up in the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 for Banner Racing, beginning with the season-opening Rolex 24 At Daytona on January 29-30.
