This year's ALMS round at Long Beach marks the final ALMS race for the GT1 Corvettes. The team, the cars and the drivers have been incredibly successful in the American Le Mans Series and it will be sad to see the wonderful C6.Rs retired after Le Mans in June. However, the all new GT2 Corvettes are already in testing and the signs are good for some exciting racing in the second half of the season!
But back to Long Beach and the battle between the No.3 and No.4 cars will be as intense as ever. This great street circuit has seen some exciting motorsport action in its long and historic past and this weekend is likely to add to that heritage.
Oliver and Olivier are determined to avenge the defeat at Sebring and to gain the advantage heading to Le Mans in June. They will have their work cut out against Jan and Johnny! We are certain to see them trading fast lap times over the weekend.
"We'll have the usual challenges of a street circuit this weekend including coping with the traffic. Car set up will be critical. It will be the end of an era in any ways but we will all have one eye on the trip to La Sarthe in June and to our most important race of the year at Le Mans."
The Tequila Patron American Le Mans Series at Long Beach is scheduled to start at 4:15 p.m. PT Saturday, April 18 (0:15 am Sunday in the UK). The one-hour, 40-minute race will be televised in the UK by Motors TV on Sunday, April 19 at 5:00 pm.
