Olly's Lining Up A Busy Racing Year
2010 LONDON MARATHON
As many of you will know I am running the London Marathon once again. The challenge is a great focus for maintaining a good level of fitness, but the event is incredibly important to many charities. It is a valued opportunity to raise money that simply can't be missed.
This year I have managed to persuade a few British Racing Driver Club (BRDC) members to join me. After only a little arm twisting we have formed team of 14 to run for the lead charity for the first Virgin London Marathon.
This year I am running for CLIC Sargent, a charity that offers an amazing range of support for children who have cancer and their families. Their work includes providing specialist nurses to provide care during hospital stays & visits, these nurses can also visit the child's home to provide some treatments. Other than clinical care they provide a helpline, family care & support, financial support, holidays, play specialists and services for young children. An important arm of their charity is the vital research that is dedicated to improving survival rates, reducing side effects and minimizing the emotional impact of childhood cancer.
The years seem to fly by and it probably feels like I was asking for your support 5 minutes ago. A year has passed and I appreciate the financial market and it's knock on effects have had little change. If you are able to donate some money to this special charity, large or small, I would be very grateful for your support. The thought of one of my children having cancer is to unbearable. To be faced with the reality is unthinkable. I am pleased to have the opportunity to make a small contribution to help the lives of the people that are faced with this terrible disease.
